Cephalanthus occidentalis is a pernnial shrub native to Richmond VA. Leaves are decidious, glossy and dark green and do not have a significant fall color.  This shrub has very interesting orb-like flowers resembling pincuhsions with button-like balls of fruit.


Attracts bees, birds and butterflies.

    Moist to wet.  Is naturally found in swamps, around ponds and stream margins.

  • Light Requirements

    Part shade to shade.

  • Mature Sizing

    Can reach 6 to 12 feet in size.
